Human Trafficking. It's a term loaded with controversy, misconceptions and stereotypes. Most of us believe "that will never happen to me or my family members." Cue in guest Rachel C Thomas, human trafficking survivor and the girl next door. Rachel, a UCLA masters graduate, was raised in an affluent community with well educated, professional parents. She was a student at Emory University, when preyed upon by a trafficker and became entrenched in this dark world. Rachel's story conveys the manipulative, deceptive and predatory behaviors that adolescents and young adults can face from traffickers. Now a personal survivor, Rachel has become an advocate, teacher, speaker and content creator to help others avoid becoming human trafficking victims. This episode is a story that must be heard by parents and their adolescent and young adult children.
